My Sona's Evolution

Here you're gonna see how the design of my character evolved in order from oldest to newest! Unfortunately I do not have any older drawings than 2022 since I made them on a device that's currently broken and hopefully will be able to fix soon. : ( Since I do have older drawings of the character from 2021-2022

This is earliest drawing of my character I have for now (Early 2023+)

I made this on FlipaClip, and this was probably the best asset I had made at the time

This one's just an updated version of the character, with a much more expressive pose! The asset remains the same, I made these on the same day iirc, I used this as my profile picture for a bit back in early 2023 and still have it referenced on my Twitter banner

Wow!! This one actually has a background and isnt too bad!

The character finally grew legs here, I really dislike the blue filter though, so I later replaced it with an Instagram filter that looked way better!

This asset is genuinely atrocious, hideous, just terrible and ugly, what a fucking downgrade, I don't know what I was thinking when making it, what a downgrade!!

This design is a HUGE improvement from the last, however I barely ever remember using this one, I really dont know why, also this background is so good that I ended up using it all the way until mid 2025 (Mid 2023-Mid 2025, that's practically 2 years!)

2024

I like this one! I ended up using it for a while until I changed character designs for it, I don't have much to say about this one other than I'm pretty sure it was the first profile picture change of 2024. (Somewhere around early 2024)

Here's the same thing but without the background and filter! (You'll notice that the asset is pretty much just the same thing as the last but with different colors and adjustments, way easier to look at now!)

This is when I redesigned the character into a lollipop. It's a little sad since the whole reason I originally called it RayBall was because it was literally a ball : ( but the name sounds nice so I kept it anyway

The pose and background are still the same, but the lollipop asset was actually reused from another character I made back in mid 2023 with recolored assets. This also ended up becoming my longest lasting profile picture since I used it from mid 2024 to mid 2025!

Just like the others, here's a version without bg and filter.

2025 (Huge GlowUp)

Unlike everything else, this character's new design was first made on ms paint as simple doodles, mainly to have ideas and stuff on how it can look, this first started on May 2025 which is surprising to me cause it felt like its been just 5 months since I had first made this character

I'm not really sure when I first started thinking this way, but around late 2024 I started feeling that my character at the time just wasn't interesting enough. For a while I kept thinking about redesigning and improving them, but I never actually tried until May 2025

This is the first redesign drawing I ever made of my sona! It was obviously still missing a lot of things, but it was a start

This is the full version of the image that contained the first drawing I made of the character, I updated this file a lot, just drawing the character more and warming up to them.

More of me practicing to draw the character quickly. I think one thing I did a little wrong was how I'd keep putting unnecessary details on the face, though it seems I actually realized that later and stopped doing it

I was experimenting with different expressions and vibes for the character, since that can really change how people perceive them! But honestly I don't like most of these, some of them look wayyyy toooo smug which feels a little out of character... But I think I eventually got the hang of it.

You can tell I really enjoyed drawing this character...

THIS!!! is super cool!! By this point I finally understood how to draw the character a lot better, so I doodled them on paper for fun, I really liked how it turned out, but unfortunately I lost the original drawing : ( Luckily I had already taken a picture of it beforehand. (the bottom left originally had my real name, so i lazily edited it into RayBall)

I finally made a profile picture using the new design! Even though I created the character in May 2025, I didn't make this until July. This was also one of my first full creations in Adobe Animate 2024! (The background is still from FlipaClip) Looking back at it now, it feels a little off, but I still think it's alright.

When it came to profile pictures, I'd use this zoomed in version though

Somewhere around the same time, I also made this simpler/cuter(?) version of the character. Honestly, while I like both styles, I find this one MUCH easier to draw and more appealing, so since then I've mostly been drawing the character this way!

2026

This is one of my latest drawings of my sona!! Probably the best I've made of the character so far, I also added a flower accessory on them since I thought it'd be cute! I made this using Adobe Animate 2024
